Advanced Vehicle Dynamics Lab researches vehicle dynamics, noise, and vibration problems.

Center for Automotive Fuel Cell Systems conducts research ranging from modeling to actual vehicle construction and testing.

Fralin Life Science Institute an interdisciplinary research center, brings scientists together to solve some of biology's complex challenges.

Virginia Bioinformatics Institute develops genomic, proteomic and bioinformatic tools that can be applied to the study of infectious diseases as well as the discovery of new vaccine, drug, and diagnostic targets.
 
Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute integrates Virginia Tech’s world-class research strength and Carilion Clinic’s experienced staff and rich history in medical education to develop the next generation of physician thought leaders through inquiry, research, and discovery.  VTC is a four-year private medical school ofering the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree. It is located in Roanoke, Va. on Carilion Clinic’s Health Sciences campus, a burgeoning biomedical corridor just a few blocks from downtown. Class is capped at 42 students, allowing for individualized attention, active involvement, and an intense and rich educational experience.

Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine a partnership between Virginia Tech and the University of Maryland, provides advanced clinical care and conducts animal and biomedical research.

Virginia Tech-Wake Forest University School of Biomedical Engineering & Sciences is a fully joint venture which integrates the capabilities of the Virginia Tech College of Engineering, the Wake Forest University School of Medicine, and the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.

Virginia Tech Center for High Performance Manufacturing was developed to help manufacturers cut costs, improve operations, and keep up with customer demand. Areas of specialization include: flexible automation, manufacturing logistics, production and information systems, rapid prototyping and tooling, and low-cost composite manufacturing.

VT KnowledgeWorks is a unique growth enhancement program that offers incubation space and support for growing businesses. VT KnowledgeWorks assists start-ups as they plan and launch, but also enables leaders of mature companies to share vision, insight and experience as they grow. The Pre-Launch segment of the program helps market-worthy ventures organize, formulate strategy, obtain outside investment, and launch efficiently. Services offered in the Enterprise category emphasize strategic support for continual expansion, entrepreneurship, and personal and professional development for business leaders in more mature, operating companies.

Virginia Tech Transportation Institute is the largest university level research center. Research aimed at saving lives, time, and money in the transportation field.

Virginia Smart Road part of VTTI, is a 2.2 -mile, full-scale, closed test-bed research facility. Features weather-making capabilities, variable lighting test bed, pavement markings and an on-site data acquisition system.
