The Roanoke Valley is a regional center for health care with three large hospitals and a Veterans Administration facility. Roanoke is home to Carilion Clinic, a regional health care companies that operates Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, the area’s Level 1 Trauma Center, Carilion Community Hospital, and 8 smaller, community hospitals throughout southwestern Virginia. The other major hospital in the region is Lewis-Gale Medical Center, an HCA hospital. The three offer state-of-the-art diagnostics and treatment for cancer, cardiac disease and other illnesses.
