Capital Fund Invests in Future of Roanoke Region

In a bid for more high-wage employment in the Roanoke Region, three prominent organizations -- the Virginia Tech Foundation, Carilion Clinic and Radford venture capital firm Third Security -- pledged to invest $15 million to $20 million in Southwest Virginia business ventures.

Valley’s Ventures, the new private investment fund, was announced at a meeting at the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute in Roanoke as part of Innovation Blueprint on Tuesday. Backers of Innovation Blueprint say they are devising ways to expand innovation and entrepreneurship and one need is more private business capital.
