NS Thoroughbred Bulk Transfer Terminal
Norfolk Southern’s Thoroughbred Bulk Transfer Terminal offers intermodal capabilities for bulk commodities including food ingredients (flour, corn starch, sugar, syrups), liquid chemicals, plastic pellets, construction materials (lumber, rebar, beams, steel, sand, cement, aggregate), and others. Customers wishing to take advantage of long-haul rail efficiency but requiring the flexibility of truck delivery will find a suitable solution in the Thoroughbred Bulk Transfer Terminal.
NS Regional Intermodal Facility
Norfolk Southern plans to open a regional intermodal facility adjacent to Interstate 81. The intermodal ramp will have the capability of moving containerized freight, serving an average of 87 short-haul trucks each day initially. It is estimated that the facility may serve as many as 235 trucks per day by 2020. Norfolk Southern will own and operate this facility in the region, which serves as a strategic nexus between the Heartland Corridor (serving Chicago, Detroit, Cincinnati, Columbus, and Norfolk) and the Crescent Corridor (serving New Orleans, Atlanta, Memphis, Charlotte, Philadelphia, and New York City among other major cities).
