The Roanoke Region is one of the best places in the nation for cycling. Whether you're into BMX, road biking, or simply enjoy to ride now and then, the options are endless.

ROADS AND TRAILS
Between the Greenways and miles of trails winding through the mountains, the Roanoke Region offers a variety of trails ranging from easy to difficult.

Carvin's Cove Natural Reserve is often considered Roanoke's hidden gem as the 2nd largest municipal park in the US covering 8000 acres and featuring dozens of mountain biking trails. Rt. 11 and Rt. 311, Roanoke 540.563.9170

Salem Bike Route is an 11.2 mile round trip course designed for all ages and skill levels. Begins in Longwood Park, Salem • 540.375.3057

TransAmerica Trail runs through the region providing cycling opportunities.

Virginia Explore Park offers nine miles of biking trails. Milepost 115 Blue Ridge Parkway, Roanoke

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

Are you looking for someone to ride with? Cycling in the Roanoke Region is a popular activity and several organizations provide communities and opportunities for cyclists.

Blue Ridge Bicycle Club promotes and encourages the use of the bicycle for transportation and recreation, provides information in the interest of bicycling safety, and promotes competitive cycling.

Roanoke Cycling Organization focuses on racing, riding, training, education and event promotion. Understand the impact of cyclists behavior on and off the road, seek continuing education from bike handling to maintenance techniques, and get involved in all forms of bicycle racing and promotion.

The Roanoke Outdoor and Social Club seeks to bring together people who represent a variety of interests and experience levels and provide a mix of activities inlcuding hiking, backpacking, biking, climbing, kayaking, canoeing, rafting, caving, and more.

Roanoke IMBA is a group of dedicated and passionate individuals whose mission is to create, enhance and preserve trail opportunities for mountain bikers in Roanoke and the surrounding areas.
